摘要

"Scope creep" is the term used to define the condition in which your client (or you) introduce work into a project that is not accounted for in the original schedule or budget. Many problems encountered during the execution of a project can be traced to a poor definition of the scope of services. Because you base your fee on performing an agreed-upon body of work, adding additional work to a project cuts directly into your profit and can make your most desirable work very undesirable very quickly. What's more, if you allow your clients to change or broaden the scope of your services without compelling them to rethink your fee, you are likely to have to confront scope creep problems more often. This article explains how you can structure a scope of services contract that reduces the risk of scope creep problems and help you avoid losing money when scope changes are required.
