An Implementation of Web-based Decision Support System and Satisfaction Survey for Teachers' In-service Education

Nowadays is the era of information explosion and www impact the entire world. Applying communication technology provides an opportunity for people to conduct online services ubiquitously. With professional knowledge growth and update rapidly. There is a challenging problem presented that in-service teachers must to enrich and update their professional knowledge continuously. So, teachers' in-service education is becoming an important issue in education field. In this paper, in order to assist in-service teachers foster teacher professional development, the researchers combine requirements of education and communication technology to build a ubiquitous web-based decision support system for teachers' in-service education. Basically, decision support systems were designed to help decision makers in decision process. Making effective decisions often depends on high quality service system and access correct information ubiquitously. Hence, the researchers according to the model of information system success to design the education information decision support system for in-service teachers, and through satisfaction survey to evaluate and verify the effectiveness of system. The researchers plan and implement education information decision support system, and the system had online service since 2003 to now. In the year 2009, the researchers through satisfaction survey to verify the effectiveness of the system. The users had express great satisfaction in three parts: task support satisfaction, decision support satisfaction, and interface satisfaction. This research had achieved the following goals: First, integrated both cities' and counties' education information into a nationwide education information system. Second, provided online service for in-service teachers select learning activities, confirm learning plan, and check achievement rates of education program ubiquitously.
