Based on the recently emerged sparsity and morphological diversity concepts, novel methods such as morphological component analysis (MCA) have been put forward. Building on MCA, the purpose of this paper is to describe new techniques for suppressing artifacts in prestack reverse-time migration (RTM). Because the low-frequency, high-amplitude imaging noise and effective reflection information are morphologically different, if two appropriate sparse dictionaries are chosen, the image can be separated into reflection component and low-frequency noise component, then the low-frequency imaging noise can be removed. Model testing showed that this method can effectively remove the undesired low-frequency noises in the image.
