The 2 most common problems in middle-aged to older ferrets are adrenal gland disease and insulinoma. Most ferrets are likely to acquire one or both of these endocrine-based diseases during their lifetime. Both of these problems can be treated surgically, medically, or with a combination of both. In addition pet ferrets can also develop diabetes, especially with long-term use of prednisolone.
