Vibrio cholerae is a non-invasive pathogen that colonises in the small intestine in humans. Although V. cholerae belonging to serogroups O-1 and O-139 are associated with epidemic and pandemic potential, other serogroups appear as sporadic outbreaks with cholerae like symptoms with less severity. The structure of the O-antigenic lipopolysaccharides (LPS) isolated from V. cholerae 010 was reported. The synthesis of the repeating unit of the O-antigenic polysaccharide of V. cholerae 010 (Fig. 1) is reported here.
