Due to the dwindling resources of fossil combustibles electric-mobility becomes more and more an alternative to present mobility. Besides this aspect the ecological awareness puts pressure on the automotive industry. Especially in cities and urban areas pollution and noise become an increasing problem. Companies that are participating in the automotive business have to be prepared for the upcoming shift within the value chain of automotive production. In particular it is essential to build up new competences in the field of automotive electrification. The "Conversion Design" which is persecuted by most OEM is one reason for the stagnation of electric-mobility. By implementing a Conversion Design companies mainly just exchange significant parts of the vehicle, therefore most OEM's just replace the conventional power train by an electrified one to build an electrified vehicle. To access the full potentials of electric-mobility it is necessary to follow a "Purpose Design"-approach. A Purpose Design ensures the implementation of the special requirements of electric-mobility, as the vehicle concept is developed to integrate electrified parts instead of conventional ones. Such a development will change the concept of a vehicle in a significant way. As the conventional engine and its subsystems will be removed there are additional possibilities to use the installation space but also further restrictions.
