ZONE-WISE EVALUATION OF EXTRANEOUS MATTER QUANTITY AND ITS IMPACT ON PROCESSING

The quality of sugarcane received at Western Uttar Pradesh sugar factories has deteriorated significantly because of increased amounts of extraneous matter delivered in the cane supply. This leads to reduction in life of preparatory devices, increased wear and tear of mills, effect went up to the boiler where fear of damage of pressure part of boiler increases, poorer juice quality increases cost of chemicals for clarification and frequent cleaning of heat exchangers takes place, due to increased molasses% cane and higher mud volume, sucrose losses in boiling house also increased. In this study efforts done at Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd., Khatauli to cope up with and prepare a strategy to control, this increased extraneous matter problem is being presented.
