PROVENANCE OF EAST SULAWESI AND BANGGAI SULA ZIRCONS - PRELIMINARY RESULT

This paper reports initial results of an ongoing evaluation of the radiometric age and provenance of rocks from Eastern Indonesia using heavy mineral analysis and U-Pb zircon dating. Data reported here are from 7 rock units (Figure 1): SE Sulawesi 1. Mesozoic sandstones of the Meluhu Fm 2. Metamorphic rocks of the Mekongga Fm Central/East Sulawesi 3. Mesozoic sandstones of the Nanaka Fm 4. The Pompangeo Metamorphic Complex Banggai-Sula-Taliabu Islands 5. Mesozoic sandstones of the Bobong Fm 6. Banggai Granite 7. Unnamed metamorphic rocks
