This presentation will include a discussion of: 1. Recent innovations in BFS-technology from materials via process, machinery to container-systems 2. New machines for cost efficient production and minimal waste 3. New processes for pharma-grade systems including biologics 4. New container designs for efficient end user handling The presentation will outline and explain the new technology using rotational molds that allow production outputs of 36000 pcs/h and with a waste reduction of up to 72% lower waste ratio compared to cycle machines. Results of a case study will be presented that were obtained by using a design of experiments approach to minimize heat effects on a temperature sensitive biotech vaccine product. Key design options in BFS-technology will be outlined that allow user friendly container designs to increase end user compliance, e.g. oral medication for children and unit-dose gel applicators.
