Spatiotemporal localization and comparison of brain activity on recalling one type of Kanji homophones

The authors have recorded electroencepharoglams(EEGs) from a subject. Some words were presented to the subject at random. Each word consists of some Hiragana characters (one type of phonetic characters), and the words has some corresponding Kanji homophones. EEGs were measured during silent recalling these Kanji homophones. The equivalent current dipole source localization (ECDL) method has been applied to those event related potentials (ERPs): averaged EEGs. ECDs were localized to the inferior temporal gyrus, to the language area as Wernicke's area, supramarginal gyrus, angular gyrus and Broca's area, etc. In addition ECDs were localized to the hippocampus, parahippocampal and fusiform gyrus, etc. The authors were compared these differences between subjects.
