This paper reports the co-precipitation synthesis of undoped and Eu~(3+) doped In_2O_3 nanoparticles. The effects of rare earth ion (Eu~(3+)) doping on growth and optical properties have been assessed. The lattice parameter, strain and crystallite size have been calculated by using the Williamson-Hall plots. A UV visible analysis reveals that optical band gap decreases from 3.61eV to 3.27eV with Eu~(3+) doping.
