This research proposed various types of operating rules combined with capacity sharing concept to re-operate reservoirs in Meaklong basin, which was a complex reservoir system comprising Srinagarind, Vajiralongkorn, ThaThungna and Maeklong dams in the western region of Thailand.The proposed operating rules such as original and existing rule curves done by EGAT, adjusted rule curve, the different types of hedging rule as well asthe traditional standard rule were demonstrated to re-operatetwo parallel reservoirs and combined the concept of capacity sharing for the release determination from Srinagarind and Vajiralongkorn reservoirs. The result showed that using the different types ofoperating rules combined with capacity sharing technique mostly decreased the total release from two reservoirs compared to using the actual release ratio. In addition, it could increase the annual electrical energy generation ranging between1.32-8.51% when those operating rules were employed. Moreover, it could satisfy all sectors of water demand on the downstream side of Maeklong dam based on the evaluation of the key performance indicators.
