This research proposed various types of operating rules combined with capacity sharingconcept to re-operate reservoirs in Meaklong basin, which was a complex reservoir systemcomprising Srinagarind, Vajiralongkorn, ThaThungna and Maeklong dams in the westernregion of Thailand.The proposed operating rules such as original and existing rule curvesdone by EGAT, adjusted rule curve, the different types of hedging rule as well asthe traditionalstandard rule were demonstrated to re-operatetwo parallel reservoirs and combined theconcept of capacity sharing for the release determination from Srinagarind and Vajiralongkornreservoirs. The result showed that using the different types ofoperating rules combinedwith capacity sharing technique mostly decreased the total release from two reservoirscompared to using the actual release ratio. In addition, it could increase the annual electricalenergy generation ranging between1.32-8.51% when those operating rules were employed.Moreover, it could satisfy all sectors of water demand on the downstream side of Maeklongdam based on the evaluation of the key performance indicators.
