With increased frequency and intensity of wildfires aroundthe world, new technologies are now emerging that mayaid in confronting the disasters and minimize their impacts.Fire protection entities have begun leveraging wildfirebehavior spatial modeling, as a tool to provide valid firespread and intensity estimations used for fuel andvegetation management practices and early warning ofpotential or on-going wildfires. New mobile applicationsthat integrate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) arealso being applied to risk mitigation and disaster responsemanagement. In this study, we describe the development ofa cross-platform mobile application that combines firepropagation simulations with mobile geospatial technologyto create a wildfire decision-aid system for application onactive wildfire incidents. Our mobile application (MTTApp) provides a novel approach to harness newtechnologies to support real-time suppression efforts andimprove firefighter safety.
