A Novel Reagent for Bisulfide-Coupled Protein Folding

The folding of lysozyme and prouroguanylin using Arg-Cys-Gly (RCG) is demonstrated. RCG was superior to that of glutathione in terms of folding recovery. The folding kinetics was also determined and the role of the Arg residue of RCG in the disulfide-coupled folding of proteins is discussed.
