Tubular assemblies of cyclic β-peptides generate a strong electric field along the tube axis due to the strong dipole moment, which is expected to be applicable for molecular devices. Aiming at this application, we report here to control the orientation and the size of the tubular assemblies with help of chromophores which are introduced at the peptide side chains.
