Various quasi-zero stiffness (QZS) passive vibration isolators were developed for protecting a system against vibration. This paper presents a unified model of QZS passive vibration isolators with symmetric nonlinearity. First, various types of QZS passive isolators are analyzed and the unified model for them is proposed. The unified model is found to be a Duffing equation with odd power polynomials. Dynamic behaviors of QZS passive isolators are analyzed using the unified model. Design methodology and implementation of a QZS passive isolator with symmetric nonlinearity are discussed.
