A system for measuring the thermal conductivity of conductive solid materials using the cut bar method was established in the Centro Nacional de Metrologia of Mexico (CENAM). We present the design and the main characteristics of the system. The measurement system operates under a condition of steady state heat flow and uses a set of high purity copper bars as reference material. We present, in numerical form, some design criteria that were obtained from a parametric study for this system. The result for the thermal conductivity of several materials at 50°C, 100°C and 150°C and the estimated uncertainly are presented.
