The very large numbers of environmental chemicals that now exist have made assessing their neural risks challenging. Recently, environmental estrogens, known as endocrine disruptors or endocrine-disrupting chemicals, have been identified as a diversegroup of synthetic and naturally occurring compounds that mimic the action of steroidal estrogens.
