The most common malignancy of the oral cavity is squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). In our population, according to epidemiological data, the most part of all (37,3%) SCC of oral mucous tissue spreads over tongue, 28,7% are the share of SCC of the tissues of the mouth floor, and the other 33% are the share of buccal and upper and lower lips. The prognosis of oral cavity carcinoma is limited by recurrent disease or lymph node metastasis. Secondary to, chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy, anatomical structures are often severely changed and make early diagnosis of renewed tumor growth by clinical and radiological examination difficult. The aim of this study was to estimate prognostic importance of value of serum tumor markers (CEA, SCC-Ag), performances of peripheral blood (WBC, ACN, PLT) characteristics, histological type of the tumor, tumor size in relation to the appearance of lymph node metastases and relapse in oral SCC.
