A novel precursor composed of polycarbosilane (PCS) and palladium(ll) acetate (Pd(Oac)_2) was synthesized and characterized in order to develop a catalyst-loaded SiC material. It was found that PCS and Pd(Oac)_2 react with each other through crosslinking reaction when their solution are mixed and that the mass residue of synthesized precursor at 1473K is 70% which is 14% higher than that of PCS. The catalytic performance of Pd-loaded SiC material obtained by the pyrolysis of precursor was evaluated by evolution of CO_2 gas due to oxidation of CO gas. It was found that the Pd-loaded SiC material shows a catalytic performance.
