Load determination for orthodontic wires by means of experimental testing has received, in recent years, the attention of many researchers. Using the mentioned tests it is possible to measure the loads of a system equivalent to the constituted in the oral cavity and thus, indirectly, to get information of the orthodontic movements. In this work, numerical simulations of models of experimental orthodontic wire tests are presented in order to get important information of the wires. The present study is based on mathematical models used to simulate tests of deflection of orthodontic wires, through the Finite Element Method. The validation of the models was carried out through comparison with the results from the literature. The results demonstrate the capacity of the models to represent the real physical problem and the potential of this tool for the study of the behavior of orthodontic wires.
