Integrated Public Transport System in the Southern Moravia Region, Czech Republic

The presentation describes the implementation of the Integrated Public Transport System of the Southern Moravia Region (IDS JMK) and its organizing authority KORDIS JMK, spol. s.r.o. (KORDIS). Before implementation of IDS JMK, there was a very poor integration of the Brno city transport with trains and regional buses in terms of tariffs, timetables, ticketing and marketing. In opposite to this old model IDS JMK brought economical optimization based on reshaped network, coordinated timetable, common marketing and customer service and the new tariff and fare system. The overall benefit of IDS JMK is the increased attractiveness and effectiveness of public transport in the city of Brno and the Southern Moravia region. The public also benefited from an improved quality of service, more connections, improved transfer options and lower tariffs. All this leads to higher passenger demand and consequently higher revenues.
