Railway Expansion Program 1. In 2002, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ("KSA") announced its intention to upgrade and expand its existing rail network. Three new railways lines will be constructed (1). Saudi Landbridge (SL) (2). Haramain High Speed Rail (HHR) (3). North-South Railway (NSR) 2. Implementation of the Saudi Landbridge through the private sector on a Build Operate Transfer (BOT) basis, Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) is the "Executing Agency" for the project. 3. In 2007, the Government of Saudi Arabia has decided to implement the Haramain High Speed Rail (previously known as Makkah Madinah Rail Link) as a public funded project. 4. The NorthSouth Railway which is already under construction as a public works project by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
