Microfabrication allowed the creation of MFMR's with a range of channel diameters (56-500 mm) that can be of long lengths in a relatively small area. Large bend radii (>3 mm) facilitated 75 to 100 μm diameter reactant wire insertion. Dimensions of the channels were optimized such that peak shapes of CO_2 created from fast GC plugs of CH_4 and C_5H_5N were unaffected when passed through the MFMR at 950°C. MFMR enable carbon isotope ratio measurements of CH_4 with a precision of δ~(13)C ± 0.28 ‰. Applications where ports must reside at high temperatures (>100 °C to >300°C) require further investigation into suitable high temperature sealants, such as a LCT adhesive.
