The major functions of granulosa cells (GC) include the production of steroids, as well as a myriad of growth factors to interact with the oocyte during its development within the ovarian follicle. Insufficient function of granulosa cells leads to many pathologies including infertility, defects in oocyte development and abortion. The analysis of secreted proteins in blood can be difficult for protein biomarker identification because of their low abundance. Therefore, the analysis of the secretome in cell media was performed. The secretome of human granulosa cells was analyzed following hormonal stimulation with various gonadotropins used in infertility treatment. The use of different separation techniques (C18 and HILIC) and the high resolution MS/MS enabled the detection of interesting an unique peptides involved in fertility processes.
