The effect of incubation temperature on MVOCs emitted by A. fumigatus and P. paneum were investigated using SPME/GC/MS. MVOCs emitted from A. fumigatus during the 7 days incubation period were the following ketones, aldehyde, alcohols, pyrazines and furans. The amounts of ketones (3-octanone and 2-undecanone) emitted from A. fumigatus incubated at 37C were larger than those emitted from A. fumigatus incubated at 50 and 60C. Aldehydes (hexanal, heptanal, 2-octenal, nonanal, decanal and 2-undecenal) were not detected from A. fumigatus incubated at 37C, but were detected at 50 and 60C. The amount of ketone (3-octanone) emitted from P. paneum incubated at 28C was larger than that emitted from P. paneum incubated at 60C. Aldehydes (hexanal, 3-methyl-2-butenal, furfural, octanal, 2-octenal, nonanal, decanal and benzaldehyde) were not detected from P. paneum incubated at 28C, but were detected at 60C. Therefore, high temperature inhibits oxidation reactions.
