Frankincense from various Boswellia species were analyzed by UHPLC coupled to a high resolution TOFMS on the Citius LC-HRT. The six compounds were identified in the complex matrices as target analytes. Accurate mass information on molecular species as well as fragmentation using comprehensive CID (MSc2) with mass errors of below 1ppm facilitate the confirmation of the target compounds. The results demonstrate the accurate mass capabilities of the LECO Citius LC-HRT in the qualitative and semi-quantitative analysis of the boswellic acids in gum-resins, used in herbal remedies.
