摘要

1. Post-mortem protein fragments do not significantly deter neuropeptide identification in MALDI mass spectrometric analysis. 2. Post-mortem protein fragments were observed in non-stabilized ESI mass spectrometric analysis. (1) Fragments were observed at same retention time and m/z as endogenous neuropeptides, masking their presence; (2)Fragments can hinder search for novel endogenous neurohormone peptides, especially large peptides like crustacean hyperglycemic hormone (CHH) and CHH precursor-related peptide (CPRP). 3. We suggest that one sample during analysis should be stabilized and used as a control to add confidence to putative neuropeptide assignments.
