Succesful matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI) imaging experiments are strongly influenced by matrix choice and matrix deposition techniques. Different matrix deposition techniques influence analyte delocalization, image resolution and analyte extraction (sensitivity) from samples. To overcome crystallyzation problems, methods based on dry matrix powder deposition have shown to be useful to generate ions and ion images. Recently the use of nano particle (1-3) to assist desorption/ ionization (nano-PALDI), enabled detection of several analytes with low chemical noise due to matrix ions, opening molecular imaging by mass spectrometry to small molecules studies. In this work a new approach based of nano-PALDI/TOF technique based on commercially available titanium dioxide nano particles (TiO_2-NP) is proposed.
