Removal of Neutral and Ionic Additives from Protein Solutions by an Electrophoretic Method Coupled with Top-Down Mass Spectrometry Analysis

MSWIFT is an MS-compatible electrophoretic device that provides fractionation of intact proteins based on p/ prior to MS analysis without the need for sample cleanup. Removal of neutral and ionic additives from protein solutions using the MSWIFT device followed by MS analysis is shown the applicability and advantage of this method to purify intact proteins. The further analysis of purified intact protein using top-down MS analysis by CID-IM-MS provides protein sequence information via the gas phase fragmentation of intact protein.
