ChIP-1000: Reproducible solvent deposition can be achieved over a reasonable time period (up to 4h) if the microenvironment is temperature and humidity regulated. Embedding material and ultra-thin tissue sections: Sucrose allows sectioning of extremely thin tissue slices (1 (mu)m) and cannot completely be removed from tissue but still valuable information is provided. Paraffin also preserves tissue micro structure but harsher washing procedures are necessary for removal. OCT and Epon are disadvantageous due to suppression effects. MALDI mass spectrometry imaging: Ultra thin cryo-sections down to 1 (mu)m can be used, provide good information to maybe allow better resolution in the 3rd dimension for further image reconstruction.
