Proteomics investigation of archival lesions of chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer

Understanding protein expression profile associated with the underlying pathogenesis of chronic pancreatitis at different stages and its relationship with pancreatic cancer would provide valuable information for the development of diagnosis and therapeutic treatment. In this study, we investigate the dysregulated proteins in both earlier and later stage of chronic pancreatitis, and compare them to those proteins in the normal pancreas and pancreatic tumor using an integrated proteomics platform. The archival lesions of pancreatitis and pancreatic neoplasia preserved in pathologically confirmed formalin fixed paraffin-embedded tissue specimen are used, thus, the proteomics discovery was optimally correlated with the gold standard of histology.
