Glycosylation profiling of total plasma IgG and anti-Jo-1 autoantibody in patients with myositis

1. Subclass specific glycosylation profiling of the IgG from patients with myositis was performed at the glycopeptide level using high performance LC-MS/MS. 2. Patients diagnosed with myositis show decreased levels of galactosylation compared to their unaffected siblings and unrelated controls. 3. Based on the trend analysis, it appears that there is a genetic predisposition in the healthy siblings to acquire an autoimmune condition.
