Isolation and Characterization of Novel Serum Lectins from the American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis)

Protein Separation: (1) MBL was isolated from alligator serum using affinity separation. (2) RP-LC separated proteins for mass identification and peptide sequencing. (3) Three major bands at approx35, 70, 140 kDa. Peptide Identification: (1) Found de novo sequences from different enzymatic digests. (2) NCBI and MSDB protein database. (3) De novo sequenced unidentified peptides. (4) Blast search unassigned peptides. (5) Database searching showed homology to other animal lectins.
