This study, for the first time, shows the ability of relative protein quantification based upon ICPL and 2D-LC-MS/MS to identify serum biomarkers of frailty. The results presented could offer a starting point for further comprehensive proteomics studies aiming to reveal biomarkers of clinical relevance. Here, a combination of a new quantitative proteomics approach with extensive clinical investigations offers a unique capability to point to the most promising biomarkers of frailty.
