LIF measurements in an ESI plume using solvatochromic dyes shows significant chemical changes of the environment, manifested by large changes of emission maxima and quantum yields. However, even in normal ESI, chemical equilibria seem to be hardly distorted [1, 2], ESI-MS titration gives accurate K_(D)s. This is confirmed by earlier LIF measurments of dye aggregation/dimerization [3].
