None-resonant collision-induced dissociation in a linear ion trap has been successfully demonstrated experimentally using DC offset potentials of up to 130 V to transfer ions between segments of a digital linear ion trap. Fragmentation of [Glu1]-Fibrinopeptide B is presented here, with y_(n) fragment ions clearly observed. Beyond 130 V ions could no longer be successfully trapped following CID due to ion energies exceeding the trapping pseudo-potential barrier height produced by the digital trapping waveform. Higher trapping voltages may allow the use of larger collision energies. Simulations reproduce ion cooling following energetic transfer.
