Olfactory epithelial cells secrete a varying diversity of proteins into culture media as they differentiate for 9 days. The human set included structural, extracellular proteases, keratins and cytoskeleton proteins. The expansion of keratins (human epithelial keratins Type I & II identified) may be markers of cellular proliferation and differentiation. No hair or other keratins were found. No bovine Albumin or bovine Immunoglobulin were found. PRACTICAL OBSERVATION: Washing and culture cells without Fetal Cow Serum limits bovine contaminations.
