摘要

Large scale hydraulic model studies have been conducted to investigate the moored ship motions and associated mooring loads caused by the low-frequency waves generated by large vessels transiting a narrow and shallow waterway. The studies were conducted to support the design of an LNG terminal located on the bank of the Calcasieu Ship Channel in southern Louisiana, USA. The studies show that the magnitude of the ship-induced low-frequency waves depends strongly on passing vessel speed, and that the character of these waves varies significantly throughout the terminal area. The moored ship motions depend strongly on the speed of the passing vessel over water and are less sensitive to other factors such as moored ship size, wind speed, river current and water level.
