SAFETY OF GOLD NANOPARTICLE INJECTIONS IN DOGS

摘要

Gum Arabic gold nanoparticles (GA-AuNP) increase efficacy of radiation therapy in preclinical models by increasing tumor cell apoptosis, increasing the amount of radiation absorbed locally due to the high atomic weight, and generating a Bremsstrahlungeffect when used in combination with low energy radiation. We performed a proof of concept clinical trial investigating the toxicity of GA-AuNP injection in tumor-bearing dogs. We hypothesized that gold nanoparticle injections would be safe and no significant toxicity would be observed following treatment.
