Method for determination of the reaction kinetics of an enzymatic conversion in a heterogeneous system

Within the development of a biotechnological production process for fatty acids from fatty acid methyl esters using packed bed catalysis the determination of the kinetics of the enzymatic reaction is essential. In this particular case immobilized lipase is applied as catalyst. This contribution presents a method for obtaining the reaction kinetics of the enzymatic hydrolysis of octanoic acid methyl ester and compares modelled and experimental results.
