The selection of the oocytes and PN-stages with the best developmental potential is essential for successful IVF-treatment, especially in countries with strict embryonic protective laws. Appropriate parameters for selection are of permanent interest. In our study we analyzed Gd in human cumulus cells of the cumulus oophorus complex (COC) of IVF-cycles by immunostaining. The immunostaining showed variations that were found being correlated to oocyte maturity of the corresponding oocyte. While the COC maturity increases, the Gd-level of the cumulus cells rises (p<0,05). The PN-scoring showed a regular 2PN-pattern being accompanied with an increased Gd-level of the COC (p<0,05).
