Simulation of Signal Processing Chain for Radar Environment Simulator

摘要

The radar environment simulator is a software package meant to validate the performance of the radar controller and radar data processor of airborne electronically scanned array radars, employing MPRF and LPRF waveforms. The software package includes a scenario generation utility to provide predefined trajectories of the airborne platform and of the targets which are distributed in the search space of the radar. The radar controller sends the beam commands according to the beam scheduler, to real time data generation module of the software, which then reads the target trajectory file along with their associated parameters like speed, heading, etc. Based upon the beam position input from the radar controller, the relevant targets are read from the file and sent to the signal processing module. In this module, target detection reports are generated based upon Search or Non-Search operations as specified by the radar controller. These reports are then sent to the radar data processing utility which performs target tracking through various implemented algorithms. Therefore, the entire sequence of operations, from the beam scheduling to the track generation and maintenance is validated by means of this software package. In this paper, the procedure for simulating the signal processing chain is described in detail.
