A Design of Experiments was used to study the effect of the injection conditions on fracture behavior of High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) at low strain rate. In order to obtain the fracture parameters of HIPS, the Essential Work of Fracture (EWF) technique were applied and a single-end notched bending (SENB) geometry were used. A linear model was used to analyze the responses and it was possible to establish simple mathematical correlations between the injection conditions and the fracture parameters, being the holding pressure and injection temperature those that showed more influence on essential and non-essential work of fracture, respectively.
