In this study, the silicate nanotubes of the mineral Halloysite will be used as reinforcement in polyamide-6 (PA 6). The nanocomposites based on as-received halloysite were prepared by melt extrusion and an adjacent injection molding process. The mechanical and thermomechanical properties have been examined by tensile testing and dynamic mechanical analysis. The results show that due to the positive influence of the silicate nanotubes, there is an overall increase in the strength and stiffness of the PA-6 nanocomposites as well as an enhanced ductility at low halloysite contents. SEM images show the special crack bridging mechanism in the halloysite Nanocomposites.
