EVALUATION OF MAIN BIOSECURITY MEASURES IN 120 FARMS IN MEXICO

Surveys of biosecurity strategic practices in farms have been done elsewhere and it has been found that not all of them are implemented and or are implemented rather deficiently. For instance in Mexico, Chile, Spain and Belgium it has been reported that the level was not strong enough to stop an exotic disease in case that enters into the country (1,3,5,6). There is the 20:80 norm in biosecurity where controlling 20% of the main critical points most of the remaining ones are also controlled. The aimof this study was to make a survey in 120 farms of the 40 most important strategic practices to control the critical points, to avoid introduction of pathogenic germs, to reduce microbial circulation in the herd, and to avoid meat contamination and farmcontamination of the environment.
