COMPARISON OF THREE QUANTITATIVE PCR METHODS TO DETECT MYCOPLASMA HYOPNEUMONIAE

Several qualitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods specific for Mycoplasma (M.) hyopneumoniae detection have been described. However, a quantitative PCR (Q-PCR) approach would provide very useful information such as the relationship of M. hyopneumoniae load with lung lesion development and clinical signs. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to assess and compare the specificity and sensitivity of three Q-PCR methods to detect and quantify M. hyopneumoniae.
