One of the principal priorities of increasing profitability of pig rearing is prevention of direct and indirect losses of suckling and weaned piglets (Link, 2006). Oral rehydration solutions (ORS) are usually given to litters or to individual pigletssuffering from diarrhoea. However, the aim of the present study was to investigate the influence of the systematic administration of an ORS to healthy suckling piglets under field conditions on daily weight gain and mortality.
