摘要

PCV2-associated diseases (PCVAD) have quickly become an emerging international problem. Significant differences in severity and manifestation of PCVAD exist from country to country and farm to farm. In a previous pilot study we found evidence for differences among pig breeds in susceptibility to PCV2-associated lesions.1 In our model, Landrace pigs were found to be more susceptible to PCVAD compared to Large White and Duroc pigs.' In addition, field evidence suggests that Pietrain are more resistantto PCV2-associated diseases.2 Some producers have taken the preliminary research data and evidence from the field, and made decisions to change breeding programs on farms suffering major losses associated with PCV2. The objective of this study was to further confirm that breed-dependent differences in susceptibility to PCVAD exist by comparing Landrace and Pietrain pigs in our well characterized experimental PCV2 model.
